The North Salem Republican Town Committee honors NASA Mathematician Katherine Johnson. Katherine’s math skills were a pioneering legacy in the United States and in Space. Her analysis’ were so accurate that before astronaut John Glenn flew The Friendship in 1962, he asked Johnson to double check the math of the computers, trusting her more than the machines; and he would go only if she said the computer was right.
