"It's all about the money:" North Salem Board of Ed votes against funding a second school resource officer."

I want to thank the North Salem Board of Education for its leadership on the emotionally fraught issue of a second SRO. It is critical that decisions regarding public safety are not driven by opinion or fear. If and/or when the District’s Safety Committee, which includes parents and community members with relevant expertise and experience, recommends a second SRO, I am confident it will be added to the budget in a thoughtful and purposeful manner. However, if the Safety Committee recommends that there are more effective ways to ensure student safety, hope the community will be supportive.  Having listened to the meeting, I do not have the sense that it is “all about the money.”
