Meet, shop and unwind. That’s what the organizers of Fine Day Fair, an outdoor, artisan market invite locals to do this Saturday and Sunday at Lasdon Park & Arboretum in Somers.
Fine Day Fair is a series of outdoor markets selling curated items, collected antiques and unique treasures for both home and garden. Sixty vendors will be on site at Lasdon Park this weekend, featuring curated antiques and furniture, architectural salvage, coverings, art, garden statuary, unique gifts and more.
“I love a good live event,” said Sue-Jean Kang, organizer of the Fine Day Fair. “Starting this year, it really felt like people wanted that back in a safe and comfortable way.” Given that the event is outdoors and ticketed, Kang expressed confidence that Fine Day will offer attendees the enjoyment of a live (and lively) event with the safety of an outdoor, limited capacity experience.
“We’re not just artisanal or a crafts fair, but we really married the best of everything home and garden,” Kang said. “There will be a lot of second-loved goods; not items you can find in a catalog, but things you’re searching for.”
Those seeking a uniquely personal gift item for a loved one may want to check out Deborah O’Connor, “The Silhouettes Lady.” O’Connor, who makes hand-cut silhouette portraits, has a limited number of sessions available throughout the weekend. Reservations must be booked in advance.
Car buffs will want to visit Rafe Churchill of architecture and interior design firm Hendricks Churchill and his three fully refurbished classic Range Rovers. “They’re just something to behold. And they’re all for sale,” Kang said.
For those eager to experience a taste of farm life, Joe and Ida DeFrancesco are the people to meet at the Fair. The DeFrancescos, who run Connecticut-based Farmer Joe’s Gardens, operate low-commitment chicken programs. Rent the Chicken brings chickens to your home, along with the necessary supplies and support needed to manage them, without a long-term commitment. Farmer Joe’s 5-week Hatch the Chicken program includes everything you need to incubate, hatch and care for baby chicks.
In addition to items for sale, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase food and beverages from local food trucks and vendors, including Folkways Wines, The Farmer’s Grind and LMNOP Bakery.
Beyond shopping the Fair, Kang encourages visitors to make a day of it and experience all that Lasdon Park has to offer. “Spring and summer is when the park shines. Check out the gardens, go see the conservatory, make a picnic. The site is huge and beautiful, and we really want people to go and experience all of it.”
Fine Day Fair will run from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5. Tickets are required and advance purchase is recommended. Pets are not permitted on the grounds of Lasdon Park. Click here for tickets.
