Old Salem Farm’s Spring Horse Shows culminate this weekend. The annual two-week competition includes competitions for riders of all levels and ages, ranging from young children on ponies to top international competitors aboard their grand prix mounts.

The show’s main event, the Empire State Grand Prix, features some of the sport’s biggest stars including Olympians from several countries and is scheduled for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend the shows throughout the weekend, to witness the competitions and to partake in a full slate of family-friendly programming. Face painters and pony rides will be on site on both Saturday and Sunday.

North Salem resident Georgina Bloomberg and Brewster resident McLain Ward, who is also the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows Co-Chair, are among the world-class locals who are scheduled to compete.

Activities for families

On Saturday, A New Chance Animal Rescue will host an onsite dog adoption event. The EQUUS Foundation will hold a parade of adoptable horses. And, the Wolf Conservation Center will host an ice cream party for visitors.

On Sunday, North Salem’s Chris Evers’ Animal Embassy will make an appearance. The Cousins Maine Lobster food truck will also be on site.

Admission is $10 on Saturday and Sunday.
