Dear reader,

Today is World Press Freedom Day.

To most people, it's probably just another day — but to me, it's one of the most important days of the year.

I run The North Salem Post. I don't do it because I have an agenda. I do it because I favor information sharing and, most importantly, because I love this community. I run The North Salem Post because my ability to keep you informed — from what’s happening around town to decisions being made in our schools and in town government — is protected by the Constitution.

Sometimes it seems like we can't get more polarized as a country. Sometimes, the media contributes to this notion.

I'm here to tell you that we're all in this together. We're more alike than not — and we all love North Salem.

If our journalism has ever informed or helped you, please make a contribution in honor of World Press Freedom Day.

We can't do this work without your support.

Sincerely,

Sarah Gayden
