North Salem Improvement Society establishes scholarship award for high school students
The North Salem Improvement Society announced that it has established a scholarship award to recognize North Salem high school students who have positively contributed to the town and community in an effort to improve life in North Salem.
The Improvement Society, which was founded in 1931, engages in activities and initiatives aimed at improving quality of life in North Salem. In its 91 years in operation, the group has helped open the town’s first public library, purchased the town’s first fire truck, and established bridle paths. The NSIS also regularly organizes roadside clean-ups and hosts the town’s popular Christmas Eve event each year. Most recently, the group has spearheaded efforts to educate town residents on ways to live more sustainably.
North Salem high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Applicants must describe what makes North Salem special to them, what community activities they have been involved in as a high school student, and how they have, through their activities, helped to make a positive impact on the town.
Scholarship applications are due by May 15. Interested applicants can contact the Improvement Society at firstname.lastname@example.org.
