Westchester County announces date for 2022 Regional Envirothon at Mountain Lakes Park

From Westchester County Parks

The 2022 Regional Envirothon for Westchester County, an annual environmental sciences competition for public and private high school students, will be held Friday, May 13, 2022, at Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem, cosponsored by the Westchester County Soil and Water Conservation District and Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation.

This event is an opportunity for students to test their skills against their peers from schools throughout the county as well as to learn more about environmental sciences, particularly the conservation and management of soil, water and other natural resources.

The highest scoring Westchester County team in the regional Envirothon should be prepared to represent the county in the New York State Envirothon, Wednesday and Thursday, May 25 and 26, at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. The winner of the state competition will then compete in the North American Envirothon in July.

For more information, please refer to the New York State Envirothon website which will provide you with a better understanding of the competition itself, including its events: Wildlife, Aquatic Ecology, Soils, Forestry, Current Issue, and Current Issue Oral Presentation.

Please note that, unless conditions dramatically change, face masks are to be worn at all times, indoors and outdoors, by all attendees, including students, advisors and drivers.

Registration is open, download the 2022 Regional Envirothon Registration Form through, Friday, April 22, 2022.
