In just two days, community members met their $7,500 fundraising goal to purchase a scoreboard for youth soccer and lacrosse at Volunteers Field in North Salem. The fundraiser, first listed on GoFundMe and widely shared on social media channels last Thursday, was organized by Andy Pelosi, coach of the North Salem High School girls JV soccer team and co-chair of North Salem's Recreation Committee.

“We anticipate that the North Salem Town Board will approve the scoreboard purchase on February 22 and the order will be placed on February 23,” the organizers wrote in a thank you note Monday.

The North Salem Athletic Booster club made an initial contribution of $1,000 toward the cost and the Town of North Salem purchased the steel support beams and committed to covering the installation costs. Twenty-two other individuals contributed toward the fundraiser.

“Thank you to the North Salem, Brewster, Somers and Carmel community,” organizers said.
