New York State Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place on Titicus Road Saturday afternoon.

At 2:32 p.m., the Croton Falls Fire Department was dispatched to Titicus Road for a motor vehicle crash. They found a motorcyclist had collided head-on with a BMW SUV. The motorcycle operator was identified as 70 year-old Edward J. Carroll III of Old Greenwich, CT. New York State Police public information officer A.J. Hicks said Carroll was pronounced dead on scene by responding Westchester paramedics.

Carroll had been operating a 2014 Harley Davison motorcycle eastbound on Titicus Road approximately a third of a mile east of Oakridge Road when he entered the westbound lane for unknown reasons, and struck a westbound 2007 BMW SUV head-on.

Titicus Road was closed for several hours Saturday while New York State Police from the Somers barracks conducted an investigation. Croton Falls Fire Department members remained on scene to assist with the road closure. The Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to assist with the investigation.

This investigation remains ongoing.
