The North Salem Central School District announced that it would close Wednesday, January 5, due to deteriorating weather conditions in the area. Just before 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday the district notified parents of a two-hour delay. About two hours later, just before 8:30 a.m., the district updated its decision and moved to a full closure for the day. In a voicemail sent to families, assistant superintendent Adam VanDerStuyf cited "deteriorating road conditions and the continued forecast," in the district's decision to close.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the area through noon today. Freezing rain, additional ice accumulations and a light glaze are expected.
