The North Salem Republican Town Committee on Wednesday donated 100 United States Constitutions to North Salem High School's senior class in honor of Constitution Week and in appreciation of the school's new civics course.

In June the North Salem Central School District announced that the Middle School/High School (MSHS) had been accepted as one of 11 school districts in the Lower Hudson Valley to take part in the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness pilot program for the 2021-2022 school year.

"The North Salem Republican Town Committee reveres civics and is glad that North Salem High School is promoting civic education with graduating students potentially earning a seal of civic readiness," the committee said in a statement. "This coincides with Constitution month, and we believe every citizen should read and learn our wonderful Constitution."

Committee member Elaine Sweeney  delivered the pocket-sized copies to North Salem MSHS Principal Vince DiGrandi.
