The Brewster Fall Festival, an annual community celebration, is back September 19th for its 29th year. Brewster’s Cultural Arts Coalition organizes this free family-friendly event, which draws thousands of attendees to Main Street in Brewster for music, food, live performances, artisan crafts and more.
“The Brewster Fall Festival is the perfect event for people new and not-so-new to the area to find out about all the amazing things our community has to offer,” said sponsor Margaret Carey. “We are very fortunate to have a dedicated team of volunteers to help showcase the best of our community while helping raise funds for the restoration of the Old Town Hall Theater at 67 Main Street in Brewster.”
The Cultural Arts Coalition, in cooperation with the Town of Southeast, is spearheading the restoration and the reopening of the Old Town Hall Theater on Main Street. Once restored, the theater will accommodate audiences of 200 or more and provide space for music concerts, theater productions, dance performances, film screenings, lectures, and meetings. The total cost of the restoration is estimated at over $3 million.
The Fall Festival was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. In 2019, the festival had over 125 booths, 2 stages of free entertainment, and drew over 4,000 attendees.
This year, attendees can expect free live music and entertainment throughout the day. Three venues will be set up for performances, including the Band Stage, the Community Stage and, new this year, performances on the stage of the Old Town Hall Theater. A variety of performers from the local area will participate, including Seven Star School of Performing Arts, the Independence Band and 1/3 of Sophie.
Lining Main Street will be a variety of merchants, community organizations, crafters, artists, local politicians as well as representatives from local businesses, veterans’ organizations and historical societies.
Attendees are encouraged to come hungry as food vendors will be selling BBQ, burgers, hot dogs, vegan, Italian food, tacos, drinks, ice cream, and baked goods.
“The Cultural Arts Coalition has plans to bring even more entertainment, education, and art to our community,” explains Judy Marano, Cultural Arts Coalition President. “Events like the Brewster Fall Festival showcase our community and demonstrate the value of having a cultural hub in the heart of Brewster Village.”
