Letter to the Editor | Re-elect Katherine Daniels to North Salem Town Board

I am writing to wholeheartedly endorse Katherine Daniels for reelection as North Salem Town Board Councilwoman. Having been a North Salem resident for nearly 15 years, I have had the privilege of working closely with Katherine on vital climate initiatives that have greatly benefited our community. Her tireless dedication to addressing climate change and her impressive leadership roles make her an invaluable asset to North Salem. Katherine's contributions to North Salem's climate efforts have been outstanding. 

As the Program Coordinator of the North Salem Climate Smart Community Leadership Council, an Executive Committee member of the Northern Westchester Energy Action Committee, and a member of the North Salem Energy Advisory Panel, she has demonstrated her commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. 

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Katherine on North Salem's municipal Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory, a pivotal initiative that identified energy-saving opportunities for our town. Through this collaboration, I witnessed Katherine's unwavering dedication to educating town leaders about the importance of addressing climate change and preparing for the future. 

One of Katherine's remarkable achievements was the establishment of our Town's Climate Smart committee, consisting of 23 dedicated volunteers with diverse skill sets. This committee ensures that a wide range of viewpoints are considered in climate-related discussions and town activities. Katherine also commissioned the initial Greenhouse Gas Emissions report, drafted a comprehensive plan, and subsequently commissioned an ICLEI report on community emissions, all of which guided our efforts in reducing residential and transportation emissions. 

Katherine is not only a consensus builder and a strategic thinker, but she is also a person of action. She consistently demonstrates an unwavering commitment to achieving the goals set by the Climate Smart Committee and North Salem's climate action plan. She understands that preparing for climate-related changes presents an opportunity for economic growth and improving the quality of life for North Salem residents. 

In these times of increasing climate challenges, North Salem needs leaders like Katherine Daniels on the Town Council. Her dedication, vision, and commitment to a sustainable future for our community make her the ideal candidate for reelection. I wholeheartedly endorse Katherine Daniels and urge the residents of North Salem to support her candidacy.
