You know that weekend that follows the first full week back to fall work and school routines? That first weekend where you start to feel the change in seasons? Horse lovers will rejoice that the Old Salem Farm horse shows are back in North Salem. Art lovers will appreciate free entry at The Aldrich in Ridgefield, Connecticut. And foodies will fall for the Yorktown Feast of San Gennaro in Yorktown. No matter what you love, there’s something to feed your passions this weekend.

Old Salem Farm Artisan Marketplace & Farmer's Market - Sat, Sept. 16 & 17, 9:00 a.m.

Local artisans and farmers from local farms will be coming to the Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows as part of the Artisan Marketplace and Farmer’s Market, September 16-17, from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. daily.

While being entertained by exciting equestrian sport, enjoy shopping for unique finds from local artists as well as flowers, produce and other foods straight from local farmers… literally from right down the street! 

There will also be face painting for kids from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. each day. Open to the public with something for everyone and free parking! [more information]


Lewisboro Land Trust: Hudson River Ramble - Sat, Sept. 16, 10:00 a.m.

The Lewisboro Land Trust will participate in the regional Hudson River Ramble for the 12th year in a row on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10:00 a.m. - noon at the Mt. Holly Preserve in Katonah. An optional guided nature meditation will take place at the end of the hike in a woodland clearing created by a local Eagle Scout. [more information]


Aldrich Museum: Third Saturdays - Sat, Sept. 16, 10:00 a.m.

Visit the Aldrich Museum for free the third Saturday of every month as part of our Third Saturdays program. Participate in a Story Time at 10:30 am, a Discovery Tour of Raven Halfmoon, Yvette Mayorga, Chiffon Thomas, and Ping Zheng's exhibitions at 1 pm, and drop-in to The Studio for art-making activities. Railyard Arts: The Great Rollercoaster Design Challenge - Sat, Sept. 16, 10:30 a.m.

In this STEAM-based workshop, children in grade 3-8 will play, explore and engage in concepts of engineering and physics as they work to design successful rollercoasters with recycled materials. [more information]


Yorktown Feast of San Gennaro - Sat, Sept. 16 & Sun, Sept. 17, noon

The San Gennaro Feast in Yorktown, New York is an iconic Italian Heritage Festival. This amazing five-night street festival brings traditional Italian cuisine and other delicious foods, beer and wine, amusement rides, games and live entertainment. [more information]


Folkways Wines: Wine for Pizza - Sat, Sept. 16, 2:00 p.m.

Who doesn’t love pizza? Who doesn’t love wine? It’s that time of year when things pick back up but you still want to be in that casual summer vibe…yet it’s back to school and lots to do hence why we are hosting a tasting of wines for your pizza nights. The Westchester Bluegrass Club is proud to present Audrey Mae, one of Connecticut's finest Bluegrass groups! The musicianship is top notch and their vocals are outstanding!

Hammond Museum: Zen Garden Meditation & Writing Sessions - Sun, Sept. 17, 10:00 a.m.

Zen Garden Meditation and Writing Sessions with Stephen Leslie and Cynthia Eyster. Each session will begin with a brief meditation followed by a writing exercise. Led by Christine Scarfuto, Acting Director of the MFA playwriting program at Hunter College, these two-hour workshops will feature exercises that teach citizen writers the basics of playwriting and storytelling.
