Class of 2024 gathers for ‘Senior Sunrise’
At North Salem High School, classes start early. But on their last first day of school, the senior class started even earlier.
The Class of 2024 was up before sunrise Wednesday for a senior class tradition. Every year, North Salem High School seniors kick off their final school year with ‘Senior Sunrise,’ a tradition in which in the senior class comes together before the school day to kick off their last year of school together.
Just before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, seniors, clad in black Class of 2024 t-shirts, packed into cars that dotted one of North Salem's gravel roads.
"Senior sunrise was such a great bonding experience for the grade and made us feel more connected, said student Olivia Kasdan. "It was so cool seeing everyone driving to the sunrise and breakfast; watching every car take the same turns. Each kid parked back to back creating an extremely long line and then we all walked onto the field to watch the sunrise together."
After watching the sunrise, students drove to a senior breakfast held at one of the student's homes. Parents helped out with the food and everyone enjoyed the morning before heading to school.
"It was so nice to see the entire grade together, having a great time and enjoying each other’s company. Getting to experience the start of senior year with all my friends and classmates in such a fun and memorable way makes me so much more exited for senior year," Kasdan said. "It was also sad knowing that this was the start of the last school year with all these people that have become like family. However, it’s so thrilling knowing that there’s so much more to come in the future and I’m looking forward to a great senior year!"
