On Sunday, August 6, the Caribbean will come to North Salem when Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard hosts Caribbean Night on the Farm.

“This is the first of its kind. We’re pretty excited about it,” said manager Kristina Jahaly. “We have our Hardscrabble Pizza Nights on Fridays and Saturdays, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. where we have hard cider, live local bands, rotating food trucks, and our own wood-fired pizza. For the Caribbean Night on the Farm there will be music, people can dance, enjoy great food, and there’s wide open spaces for the kids, all on a beautiful Sunday evening.”

Soulful and lively island tunes and a variety of sweet and spicy foods are on the menu. The event takes place from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. General admission is $10.00 and children under five are free.

“It’s another way to welcome the local community and the surrounding areas to the farm. It’s a fun use of the space to listen to good music and enjoy some good local fare,” said Jahaly.

The Caribbean Vibe Steel Drum Band will be playing continuous live music, bringing their beachy tunes and the sounds of the islands to the farm. “This type of music is universally loved. It has a fun, upbeat vibe that appeals to all ages – it’s a great summertime jam,” said Jahaly. “A lot of people associate this music with nice summer days and evenings.” The band will be playing a variation of reggae, calypso, soca, children's music, and more. Their set list includes well-known songs such as “Don’t Worry, be Happy;” “The Girl from Ipanema; “Margaritaville;” “Under the Sea”; “Kokomo;” and more. “We hope it’s a get up and dance kind of crowd!” Jahaly said.

Three Caribbean food trucks–Jerry's Jerk, Matrix on the Go, and American Swirl– will enhance the experience with authentic Caribbean cuisine:. The Farm will also be serving their signature wood-fired pizza. The bar will be open and serving the farm’s own locally famous, hand-crafted Hardscrabble Cider produced right on the farm, along with local craft beer and a variety of specialty cocktails and mocktails.

Summer nights are made for the community to come together, and this new experience offers locals the chance to enjoy authentic ethnic food and tasty drinks while singing and dancing along to feel-good, tropical music. “Caribbean Night on the Farm is another fun summer activity for people,” said Jahaly. “It’s a nice way to wind down the weekend and spend some time with family and friends.”
