On Monday evening, July 31, the Croton Falls Fire Department will host a large-scale, mutual aid drill. The drill, which will take place between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m, will include fire apparatus from many area departments.
"Since we do not have fire hydrants in our fire district, we are drilling on a scenario in which there is a large fire in town. We will be shuttling large amounts of water from water sources to the fire scene, and documenting our progress on timing and output of water. We are expecting many mutual aid departments to assist," said Croton Falls Volunteer Firefighter Jared Hirschberg.
The Fire Department advises residents to not be alarmed if they see fire trucks from various agencies in town, and urges extra caution in the following areas, which will be involved in portions of the drill:
Mist, with a high of 61 and low of 48 degrees. Mist during the morning, cloudy in the afternoon, overcast during the evening, clear overnight.
