Each year, Memorial Day weekend gives us a moment to honor America's military men and women who lost their lives in service to their country. It's also a transitional weekend, as it signifies the start of the summer season --a season that's a little more relaxed, a lot more outdoors, and filled with opportunities to spend time with family and friends.

In our area, pizza nights are back at Harvest Moon, Hayfields is continuing its Saturday night after hours family-friendly event and the farmer's market returns to Muscoot Farm.

On Memorial Day, North Salem, Brewster and South Salem are all hosting Memorial Day activities, from parades and ceremonies to 5K runs and community barbecues. Read on for our top picks.
