The Croton Falls Fire Department hosted an all-you-can-eat country breakfast at the firehouse in Croton Falls Sunday morning. Several hundred community members, along with volunteer firefighters and members of the local emergency services community turned out for pancakes, eggs, bacon, hot coffee and a healthy serving of togetherness.
The event was a fundraiser for J.T. Camp, a Westchester County Fire/EMS dispatch member who suffered a medical emergency at the end of last year. The incident left him hospitalized for two months with a long road of recovery ahead.
Croton Falls Fire member Jared Hirschberg said that Sunday’s turnout far exceeded the department’s expectations. By 9:30 a.m., just an hour and a half after the doors had opened, the firefighters were restocking their food supplies to meet the demand.
Fire department members served buffet style and kept coffee cups replenished.
Round folding tables and chairs set up inside the fire department headquarters provided seating for guests, which included locals of all ages, from toddlers to senior citizens.
Town Supervisor Warren Lucas also stopped by with members of his family.
The Croton Falls Fire Department is entirely volunteer run, and is always looking for new members. For more information, visit their website and click “Join CFFD.”
