The Katonah Museum Artists’ Association (KMAA) and Yellow Studio, a Cross River art gallery, residency program and co-working space for women, jointly announced Wednesday “Life Perceived,” a new art exhibition featuring the work of 26 women artists. The exhibition, which will run from January 14 through February 8 at Yellow Studio, pays tribute to the language of abstraction through two-dimensional artwork created by female artists.
“We all experience our surroundings and daily life imbued with our own memories, manners of thinking and particular preferences,” said Tina Villaveces, Yellow Studio founder and curator of the exhibit. “We pick up on different elements as they relate to our senses and our perceptions of color and light. Artists have their own ways of depicting the world around them based on their style, training and process, paying special attention to color and form. The theme of this exhibition is as much about the final work of art as it is about the process used to get there, as often is the case with abstraction.”
