The North Salem Central School District assembled an all-star lineup of their best basketball-playing faculty members to take on the World Famous Harlem Wizards Friday night but the Tigers ultimately found themselves spellbound by the Wizards.

Before a sold-out crowd at the North Salem High School gym, the Wizards put on a spectacular show full of slam dunks, silliness and showmanship. The event, hosted by the North Salem Athletic Booster Club, raised money for North Salem student athletes.

"The event went very well and exceeded our expectations, " said Lynn Zoubok, co-president of the Booster Club.  "The last time the Wizards were here was about five years ago and this time there were twice as many attendees." Zoubok said that the Boosters have already decided to allocate a portion of funds raised to purchase items relating to the turf field and the campus. Other decisions regarding purchases will be made once final fundraising tallies are in.

Donna Ulrich, Pequenakonck Elementary School Kindergarten teacher, took to the court to represent the North Salem faculty. "I had so much fun playing with my friends from PQ and from the MSHS," she said. "Roy [Martin, PQ principal] and Dawn [Snowdon, PQ asst. principal] were such great sports for showing up for the kids. Seeing all the kids have the best time made us all so happy."
