On Thursday evening, North Salem residents will have the chance to sample cuisine from eight local eateries at “Taste of North Salem,” an annual fundraising event sponsored by the North Salem Middle/High School PTO.

The event, which will take place at Salem Golf Club, invites locals to mix and mingle while enjoying food and drinks from The Blazer Pub, Aversano’s, Frank’s Pizzeria, Hayfield’s Market, Wandering Dave’s, Rein Storm Events, Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard and 121 Restaurant.

Jenna Doering, president of the North Salem MSHS PTO and co-organizer of the event, said that funds raised from the event will help to pay for several programs benefiting students, including bus transportation for the 25 students involved in the Model UN club, as well as prom, field trips, activities and assemblies.

This year, the PTO is partnering with the North Salem Foundation for Learning, which awards scholarships and funding for unique student/faculty projects. “They will be handling the wine pull at this event and that money will go to help support their organization,” Doering said.

Alice Kerrigan, who owns The Blazer Pub, said, “we are happy to participate in this North Salem event because it is local and supports both the school and sports programs. Many of the North Salem group are customers, and we find new ones all the time.” Kerrigan said attendees can look forward to sampling The Blazer’s award-winning chili and cream of tomato and bacon soup.

This will be the first year that 121 Restaurant will participate in Taste of North Salem. Manager Terry Costin said, “121 Restaurant has been serving the community of North Salem for 22 years and we love any opportunity to showcase what makes this restaurant so special.” Guests who visit 121’s table can expect to sample a truffle mushroom soup featuring local mushrooms from Stewart Watson Farm in North Salem as well as smoked gouda arancini featuring gruyere & parmesan sauce.

In addition to offering an array of freshly prepared local food and drinks, Taste of North Salem will include a DJ and a 50/50 raffle. “We're fortunate to live in a small town with a strong sense of community, and we look forward to getting to know all our neighbors while gathering together for a night of fun to help support our school,” Doering said. “We are so thankful and grateful for everyone who has donated and volunteered their time and services so we could make this night happen.”

Taste of North Salem will take place Thursday, November 10 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Salem Golf Club. Tickets are $50 each and are available for purchase at the door.
