The importance of protecting our natural environment and vital wetlands
From the Town of North Salem Conservation Advisory Council (CAC)
The Conservation Advisory Council advises the North Salem Town Board on environmental matters and serves as an advocate for the environment. The CAC reviews all wetland and land disturbance applications as well as all subdivisions and site plan applications before the Planning Board. In this mission, we have learned some important lessons based on what we have seen in the field, and want to share those with our residents and neighbors as you consider changes to your property.

- prevents erosion and flooding
- maintains atmospheric temperatures
- filters and cleans our water
- is home to millions of plants, animals, and insects that are critical to our existence
To assist in protecting our natural environment and vital wetlands, North Salem has established guidelines and resources to assist residents. Click here to access those guidelines.
