North Salem High School’s fall varsity sports teams are gearing up for an action-packed week of playoffs. The field hockey, girls soccer and boys soccer teams all play in quarterfinal games early this week. Volleyball and cross country are also readying for post-season action.
Varsity boys soccer
In the first round of playoffs Saturday, the boys blanked Pleasantville 2-0. Freshman Sean Randall scored the Tigers’ first goal in the first half. Caleb Elias netted the second goal of the game, scoring with just four minutes left to play. The boys head to number 1 ranked Briarcliff High School Tuesday for the quarterfinal game.
Varsity girls soccer
In a Tiger v. Tiger matchup, the girls made quick work of Pawling in the first round of playoffs Friday. Cassie Pelosi and Gabby Bruni each scored to help the Tigers to a 4-0 win. The girls face Byram Hills at home Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Class B quarterfinals.
Varsity field hockey
The number 1 ranked Tigers were upset by 9th seeded Rye Neck Panthers in their Section I Class C quarterfinal game Monday afternoon. The Tigers lost 1-0 during overtime.
Volleyball
The team’s seven seniors will compete in their last sectional tournament this Thursday, October 27. At their last regular season game, the Tigers beat Hastings 3-1.
Cross Country
The Tigers head to the Westchester County Championships in Somers on Saturday, October 29.
