The Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows host competitions for riders of all levels and ages, from young riders on ponies to Olympic veterans with their up-and-coming mounts. The September Horse Shows kick off with a United States Equestrian Federation Premier-4 rating for hunters and jumpers September 13-18, followed by USEF Premier-2 September 20-24 and USEF National-2 September 28-October 2.

Performance and Green hunters also took the stage in the June Road Ring, with Laura Bowery of Bridgehampton, NY, and Brianne Goutal-Marteau of Annapolis, MD, each piloting their mounts to a 1-2 finish in the first over-fences classes of the Combined Performance Hunters. Bowery rode her own Prince of Thieves; Goutal-Marteau rode Aquitaine Equine’s Infinity G.

Segal and Goutal-Marteau are two of 28 riders entered in Friday’s $10,000 Old Salem Farm Welcome Stake, which will feature 47 horse-and-rider combinations vying for blue-ribbon honors. Other upcoming highlights include Friday’s Old Salem Farm 3’ Hunter Derby, Saturday’s Amateur Owner Hunter Classic and Pony Hunter Classic, and Sunday’s $3,000 Junior/Amateur Medium/High Jumper Classic presented by Eastern Hay. The first of the September Horse Shows’ three competition weeks culminates with Sunday’s $30,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix.

Old Salem will also host the Hollow Brook Horsepower Car Show presented by Porsche Danbury on Saturday, September 17, showcasing horsepower both in and out of the arena with local car enthusiasts. This car show will feature a special gathering of pre-war, super cars and American classics. Attendees will be able to vote online for the People’s Choice Award winner, to be announced at the end of the day. Other activities taking place during the car show include Love Paints Face Painting from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and Wine Tasting by Robert Mondavi Winery from 12:00-2:00 p.m.
