Railyard Arts Studio in Croton Falls announced a new schedule of fall programming for both adults and children, including pottery, jewelry-making, arts & crafts, and Halloween workshops. All classes start the week of September 12.
Creation Station
A makers-space where kids are encouraged to follow their imaginations.
Kids Art Elementary (K-2)
Discover shapes, color, paint, markers, oil pastels, clay, printing and more.
Kids Art Elementary (3-5)
Students will learn a variety of techniques using various mediums of drawing, painting, collage, printing, mixed media and more.
Kids Clay
Kids use their imagination and creative skills to make something unique.
Tween Art Lab
Incorporating the principles of design, as well as, elements of art history, students will learn a variety of techniques using various mediums of drawing, painting, collage, printing, mixed media and more.
High School Art Lab
Students will explore a variation of mediums and be encouraged to follow the medium of their choice in this advanced course.
Teen/Tween Wheel Throwing & Sculpture
Learn to create pottery on the wheel in this class for beginners.
Teen Painting
In this painting class, students will be guided through various steps and techniques to build a painting.
Beginner Wheel Throwing
Master each step of making a finished pottery piece–from wedging clay, centering it on the wheel, and shaping it, to controlling the drying process, trimming, and glazing.
Intermediate Wheel Throwing
Instructor will demonstrate a variety of advanced techniques and forms from creating lids and handles, to throwing vases, bowls, mugs, plates, or altered forms.
Hand Building with Clay
Clay is soft and can be molded with your hands into a wide variety of forms from functional mugs and bowls to sculpture of all kinds. Projects range from flowers to a vase.
Introduction to Millinery
Hats have made their comeback, and Railyard Arts is the only local studio to offer this rare opportunity of a beginner millinery class!
Stained Glass
This six-week class will focus on the copper foil method of stained glass. Students will learn how to cut glass and, using a grinder, assemble a design.
Felt Making
Join artist Christine Vogensen in learning the fundamentals of wet felting. Students will learn about wool and the process and tools needed to create felted wool paintings, jewelry, vessels and more.
Drawing with Soft Pastels
In this class, you will learn how to blend and render texture, how to compose a painting, and how to use light and dark to apply layers on layers of paint to obtain a luxurious, incredibly colorful painting.
Fundamentals of Drawing
In this class for the beginner and intermediate artist we’ll cover the basic skills needed to create a finished drawing or the underlying sketch for a realistic painting.
Beginner Watercolor
We’ll cover the basics of the medium: what materials to use and the many ways to apply paint to paper to achieve the luminous washes and interesting brushwork that make watercolor paintings so appealing.
Advanced Watercolor
This class will concentrate on the individual watercolorist’s continuing journey in the medium, reviewing techniques such as the right water-to-paint ratio to get the hard and soft edges you’ve been looking for.
Advanced Pottery Class (Invite Only)
This class is for advanced potters, who have taken numerous classes in pottery. Learn advanced techniques and tricks of the trade.
