It's the first weekend of August and there is a lot to do around here. Teddy bears will be picnicking with our youngest community members Friday morning at Ruth Keeler Library. On Friday and Saturday nights, locals will be enjoying wood-fired pizza and live music at Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard. And on Sunday, it's picture day for our furry friends at Hayfields's Market. But that's not all. Read on for our full list of lively, local things to do this weekend.

Ruth Keeler Library: Friday Painters & Artists - Fri Aug 5 10:30 am

Join a fun and informal group of painters and artists, beginners and experienced, on Friday mornings at the library at 10:30 to work together. There is no instruction and you can draw, paint or work in any medium you choose. You must bring your own materials.There is no registration, just come. Every Saturday morning at 7:00 AM, rain or shine anywhere from 4-7 miles; the route is posted on Facebook and Strava pages the day before. (You do not need a Facebook account to access). Long Challenging Hike at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation

Want to hike something a little more challenging? Come hike the Blue Trail in Ward Pound Ridge Reservation with Bonnie Robins and the Lewisboro Land Trust. The hike will start along Cross River before heading through hardwood forest, some wetlands, and up a short rock scramble (perfect for beginner scramblers). After a short break at the mountain laurel ridge, we will explore a side trail to Pell Hill. A “bring your own picnic lunch” will follow the hike, for those who would like to stay.  [more details]
