New York State Senator Pete Harckham will host a Prescription Drug Drop-Off from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 16 at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, 3 County Center, Carmel, NY. A deputy from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, which is partnering with Harckham on this event, will be on site to collect medications for their disposal.
Please note that no needles, aerosol cans, liquids, ointments or lotions will be collected at this drop-off.
“This is an excellent opportunity to make sure that old, unused medications around your home are disposed of safely,” said Harckham. “Frankly, prescription drugs that are no longer needed pose health risks, and flushing them down the toilet adversely impacts our environment. So, I appreciate everyone taking the time to get rid of their old prescriptions in a responsible manner.”
