Lewisboro Land Trust: Vernal Equinox Hike
Learn about the changes happening in nature that come around the vernal equinox with naturalist and educator Taro Ietaka. Participants will learn about the resiliency of life after the quiet, sometimes harsh, conditions of winter. It is a time of vibrancy and energy as things begin to "wake up" to the alarm of longer days of sunshine. All of this will be explored in the meadow, shrubland, forest, and wetland habitats found on a short one-mile loop through Old Field Preserve.
This program is best suited for ages 7+ and the terrain is rated easy to moderate. Sturdy mud-resistant shoes, warm layers, and a water bottle are recommended. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome. Steady rain and other inclement weather will cancel.
Space is limited so advance registration is required at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/vernal-equinox-educational-walk-tickets-566824646777
The entrance to Old Field Preserve is on the East side of Mead Street (at the intersection of Schoolhouse Road) in Waccabuc. There's plenty of parking in the preserve and on the side of the preserve driveway.
